The Carbon Net Zero routemap for the church

First published on: 17th February 2023

We have seven years to go to achieve the Net Zero Targets set by the Church of England. This can seem a daunting prospect but we have some simple steps that can put you on the route to success.

This routemap was agreed by General Synod and gives you simple and achievable ways to make a bigger difference.

And this year you have two targets

  1. To complete the energy footprint tool
  2. To make progress with becoming an Eco Church

These simple tasks are not only relatively easy to achieve but they also lay the groundwork for future success in our Carbon Net Zero challenge.
We’re fortunate to have Faiths4Change to support us as we tackle this important work. Through practical work with individual churches supported by webinars and workshops designed to help us meet the challenge. Annie Merry, Director said “the need to do something about the climate emergency is well known, understood, and agreed by most people. But many feel lost and daunted when it comes to practical steps they can actually take. The Church of England routemap sets out what you can do and our workshops and webinars can help you to succeed.
