Apply to join Liverpool Diocesan Disability Advisory Group

First published on: 7th July 2023

Diocesan Oversight Team would like to hear from applicants who feel they could contribute to the new Liverpool Diocesan Disability Advisory Group. We are looking for people who identify as disabled to meet to discuss and offer advice on issues that concern disabled people. The purpose of this group will be to:

  1. Listen to the voices of those with lived experience and members of LDDAG in order to reflect on theology, inclusion, accessibility, discipleship and belonging to church, through the lens of disability
  2. Be part of our shared endeavour to become a more equal, diverse and inclusive culture in both policy and practice, across the whole Diocese, at every level.
  3. Help identify ways in which we can ensure that disabled people are fully included in the mission of the church.
  4. Offer advice to The Director of Social Justice and Diocesan Oversight Team on ways in which it can respond to disabled people, and issues of accessibility and inclusion
  5. Incorporate the mission focus of disabled people in the leadership of church growth, discipleship and justice as the Diocese becomes Fit for Mission
  6. Enable Audits to take place in churches so that these places of worship and community centres might be empowered to become more disability friendly.

If you feel you would like to join this group then please do so by emailing over your expression of interest. This should include information about why you are interested in joining the group, what you think you can offer to the role and something of your lived experience. We may ask for further information at a later date. You can do this in writing, by voice-message or on a short video.

Email your submission by August 30, 2023 to: Merab.gill@liverpool.anglican.org

Submissions will be reviewed in early Sept and we aim to get back to applicants by Sept 15, 2023. Submissions will be reviewed by Rev Canon Dr Ellen Loudon, Director of Social Justice; Rev Laura Leatherbarrow, Disability Advisor and administrated by Merab Gill, Social Justice Project and Research Assistant.
