Following a review of options, the Board of Finance has agreed to sell our retreat cottage in the Lake District. The proceeds from the sale will be used to purchase another property to be used for retreat and study weeks.
The Covid pandemic brought to a head a number of challenges in the way we could manage Fellfield successfully and for the benefit of all. So having looked at the options we decided to put the cottage on the market and purchase something more suitable for our needs for this and future generations.
We fully understand the place Fellfield has in a number of people’s hearts. It has served us well over many years. However, the time is now right to move on and find somewhere new.
Clergy wellbeing remains important to our diocese, so as we work through the sales process, Archdeacon Mike will be leading the process to look for a new retreat house that is fully accessible and will serve us well into the future.
We will keep everyone informed about progress over the upcoming months.
