Christ Church Cabin - a place of welcome

Bishop Paul is lead the Launch Service for Christ Church Cabin last weekend. It was also live streamed on the churches YouTube Channel. 

Rev Helen Edwards explains what The Cabin will mean to Christ Church:

We feel that the Cabin is a fantastic gift to Christ Church and to our community in Norris Green.  Every person who has stepped inside has been ‘wowed’ by the space and style of the Cabin, immediately able to see how versatile it is and what an incredible asset it has the potential to be.  We’re delighted with it—and want to thank everybody who has supported us.

We’d love to have held a huge launch event, invited everyone around and quickly brought the Cabin into its full use.  Obviously, with Covid, there have been many delays and even once launched, there’s a limit to what we can start doing.  We’re really very thankful that we’ve reached the launch and it feels so right that the first thing we’ll do is to gather and praise God, listen to His word and seek Him in prayer. 

Over recent months, like many other churches we’ve gone ‘online’ with much of church life.  Between You Tube, Facebook, What’s App and Zoom we’ve been actively engaging across church life.  We’ve also been practically supporting local people, most significantly through the launch of our Food Pantry.  Over the next few months, and as the Covid restrictions allow, we will continue to gather for worship (planning in time for some services to return to Leamington School), Food Pantry will move to the Cabin and our children and youth groups will start to gather.   We’d hoped to start gathering for some activities with our older people, but for now, with our local lockdown, we’ve pressed pause on these plans. 

Slowly and carefully, in line with government guidance we’ll be bringing Christ Church Cabin in to use – and we hope to see you there.

May God bless this new space, and the people who will use it, as together they bring the love of Jesus to one another and to their neighbours."
