Bishop of Liverpool ordains a record number of new ordinands
Nineteen people saw their lives transformed as the Bishop of Liverpool, the Right Reverend James Jones ordained them as Christian ministers. At a time when there are often repeated predictions of the decline of those becoming clergy, these ten men and nine women are the largest number of people that have been ordained for over twenty years. Most were ordained at a special service held at Liverpool Cathedral on Sunday 29th June, four will be ordained in their own parishes. for more on this story click here.
Walton churches formally welcomes its new vicar
Walton Breck Christ Church and Walton Holy Trinity welcomed the Rev Kelvin Bolton as its new Priest in Charge with a special service on June 17th at 7.30pm. The service, was led by the Bishop of Warrington, Bishop David, and the Archdeacon of Liverpool, Rick Panter offers a chance for the congregation and community to welcome Kelvin to the parish. Another successful year of Songs of Praise at Bishops Lodge
Hundreds of worshippers have come from across the Diocese of Liverpool to enjoy an evening of Songs of Praise with Bishop James and his wife Sarah Jones. The functions, in the gardens of Bishops Lodge, were hosted by the Bishop with guests invited to chose their favourite song and give reasons why. Bishop James also reflected on the songs chosen druing the relaxing evenings.

Bishop of Liverpool Opens Dalton School’s Dream Extension
The Bishop of Liverpool, the Right Reverend James Jones visited Dalton CE Primary School on Wednesday June 18th to formally open the latest new extension. Among the many guests invited to attend this historic event was former pupil and Everton star, Leon Osman who cut the first turf to launch the building work back in January 2007. story continues
Church of England School Children raise £3,600 for their “friends”
Generous Church of England schoolchildren from the Diocese of Liverpool have raised £3,600 for the Children’s Society. The money was raised as part of the annual school leavers services held for year six children. Over 3000 children attended the services on June 16th and 17th which were led by the Bishop of Liverpool and Warrington respectively. story continues
