There are many other ways a church communicates with itself and the outside world. These include leaflets, posters, flyers and factsheets. The church noticeboard can also be a very important means of communication.
Things to think about
All of these forms of communication are useful ways of getting a message across and needn't be expensive. You just need to think about how they are used.
Keep everything short and simple. If you are promoting something make sure you get the relevant points across. These are. What is happening. When it is happening. Where it is happening. How much it costs. How you can get information. And if you are asking someone to contact you use a full name and make sure they are around and will answer the enquiry. Don't givr
Use catchy titles and headlines. Anything that grabs the attention is brilliant
Avoid jargon Use plain English and explain thing simply. Always assume you are writing for someone who knows nothing about your church.
Design something simply but well Always identify something as coming from the church and the diocese - use logos if you have them. Make sure people know you are from a Church of England church.
If you are using photographs make sure you have permission.
Think about your printing. You can make things look good but you have to be aware of the equipment you are using. For example photographs don't reproduce well on a black and white photocopier. If the event oractivity is important think about spending the money on making a good impression.
