Developing shared ministry in a parish raises an important question: what is the best and most appropriate way to provide direction and oversight of shared ministry?
Shared Ministry may be developed in any number of ways, according to local circumstances, but as a diocese we have developed Shared Ministry Teams (SMT) as what we believe to be the best way to provide pastoral oversight and leadership in a way that conforms to good biblical principles and complements the work of the PCC, Churchwardens, and Clergy.
A Shared Ministry Team is a group of people, chosen by the local church, who train together to become an effective team, and whose principal purpose as to lead the development of Shared Ministry in that place.
