Shared Ministry – also sometimes known as Local Ministry, Collaborative Ministry or Every Member Ministry – is a general term used to describe the way in which we are all called to use the various and different gifts and skills, energy and faith that God has given each of us in the service of each other and the world, and because we are part of one body (see 1 Cor 12), to do so in collaboration with each other. To encourage and develop Shared Ministry in a parish is to acknowledge that ministry is not, and should not be, the preserve of a few, whether ordained or lay.
