These meetings are an important part of the Synodical Government of the Church of England and it is at these meetings that a majority of the Charity Trustees for each parish are elected.
Each parish is required to hold its Annual Meetings on or before the 30th April each year.
Annual Meeting of Parishioners
The Annual Meeting of Parishioners is convened for the election of churchwardens and it is often amalgamated with the Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM). However, it should be noted that the participation criteria for a Meeting of Parishioners is slightly different from that of an APCM.
Annual Parochial Church Meeting
The Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) is convened to elect the parish's Deanery Synod representatives and Parochial Church Council members. Statutory reports, as defined within the Church Representation Rules, are also given to the church's members. Only those people who are listed on the church's electoral roll may participate within the APCM.
