Unique interactive Grotto opens in the Strand

First published on: 5th December 2019

There is a brand new Interactive Christmas Grotto with a treasure trail, elf workshop and Dickensian street scene at the start. The creators of the award-winning Alice and Narnia Experiences, have brought their second production to Bootle Strand shopping centre where they have made their home in the last year.

In late 2018 In Another Place, a local community theatre charity was left without a place to store their props and set until December when The Strand shopping centre offered them use of the old Wilko's unit. Since then In Another Place have been open two days a week running workshops for locals to come and join in, learning new skills and forming new friendships. In October they performed The Little Narnia Experience in The Strand with nearly 2000 people coming to see it. They didn't stop there though, just two weeks after their last performance they opened an all new Christmas Grotto. Father Christmas arrived on Saturday 30th October to Mons Square in The Strand and took residence in a Grotto with a difference.

So far people have loved it with comments like "it’s the most interactive grotto I've ever been to" and "It's wonderful to have an exciting local affordable grotto." The Grotto is open from Thursday to Saturday from 11am to 4.30pm and Sunday from 12pm to 3.30pm until the 23rd December. You can pre-book your slot online or you can turn up on the door.

It wouldn't be an In Another Place production if it didn't have its own twist, so not only do children get to visit Santa they also get to take part in a treasure hunt and follow a secret trail back in time to the first-ever Christmas. If you want to find out what this involves you'll have to go to The Strand and see it for yourself.
