Making It Easier > > Care for everyone > Disability

Having a disability is no bar to worship or to being included in the church community. We want to be open and accessible to all and this section shows how we can help include everyone.

Disabled people have the right to be fully included in the life of the church.  Reasonable adaptions are required under the Equalities Acts both in physical access and in the way services are conducted.  Click here to download details of the Equalities Act

The Diocese has a group of disabled and deaf people who work together to guide the Diocese in its practices to be inclusive and they also put on events for disabled and deaf Christians.

Revd Dr Hannah Lewis is Pastoral Team Leader Among Deaf People.

If anyone experiences any diffculty in access to services within a parish or a diocesan event they should contact the churchwardens or vicar, or a diocesan person responsible for the event.  If the difficulty cannot be resolved please refer to the Diocesan Access Complaints Procedure.
