Art exhibition held by Churches Together in Waterloo - ONE FRIDAY

John Bowdler Entertains

On Saturday 8th April 7:30pm John Bowdler, the famous Blackpool Tower Ballroom organist, will entertain with a range of music from his extensive collection. Tickets £10 (including glass of wine or tea/coffee and cake) are available from St Thomas Church between 10:30am and 11:30am on Sundays or reserve a ticket and pay on the door by ringing 01744 753631 after 6pm

Church Open Day at St Helen's, Sefton.

Our church will be open on Bank Holiday Easter Monday with various stalls, free guided tours, a cafe selling homemade cakes and an Easter Egg hunt starting at 3pm. All are welcome.

What's so special about religion?

A new series of talks and discussions in the context of a Communion service & pizza.  Some people are religious, some don’t see the point. Maybe there is a god, maybe there isn’t: does it matter? What difference does it make?Come & ask your questions!  From 6.30pm on:

Contemplative Prayer

Meetings of contemplative prayer continue in the east of the diocese at St. Ann's, Central Avenue, Warrington, WA2 8AJ. The dates for 2017 are 8th April, 1st July and 7th October. All gatherings begin at 11am (drinks) and finish at 12.30pm following a led hour of contemplative prayer using the method of the Fellowship of Contemplative Prayer.
There is also an Advent Quiet Day on 17th December 2017 beginning at 10am in which there are three sessions with breaks in which you can arrive or leave; there is a bring and share lunch. More details from Canon Bob Dickinson bobdicko@blueyonder.co.uk or Rev Pam Lovatt pam.lovatt@ntlworld.com


Olivet to Calvary by J.H. Maunder

The parish church of St Anne, Stanley invite you to come and sing Olivet to Calvary on Sunday 9th April. Tenor: Stuart Keen, Bass: Damien O’Keeffe, Organ: Stephen Hargreaves
Rehearsal at 5pm, performance at 7pm. Tickets £5 for singers and audience including glass of wine.

ChocoL8 Easter Egg Hunt at St James in the City

Saturday 15th April 2017 2.00pm - 4.00 pm
St James in the City, is looking forward to welcoming children, young people, families, friends and neighbours to the ChocoL8 Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday 15th April. The Easter Bunny will be on hand with other friendly folk to help children search for hundreds of mini Fair-trade Easter Eggs which will be hidden in the grounds. Friends and neighbours of all ages from around the local community are invited to this free event which begins at St James at 2.00 pm.

The church grounds will be open until 4pm for a range of fun activities and games. The event is free to all who attend and is an opportunity to hear what progress has been made on restoring the building as well as for participants to comment on plans for the future. Rev Neil Short, Vicar of St James said “ChocoL8 is going to be a fantastic, chocolate filled afternoon with plenty of fun and we welcome as many kids as possible to join in the hunt." Good News Musical

Sing Good News Musical has been revamped for 2017.People from 14 churches across Southport have come together to put this musical on. Performances at St Philip & St Paul with Wesley, Southport, PR8 6QF on Friday 28th April at 7pm & Sunday 30th April at 6.30pm. All welcome. Entrance free - donations to the work of the Bible Society. 

Quiet Days for 2017

In and around the Church and Quiet Garden at St Peter’s, Birkdale 10am – 3.30pm

Led by Rev Sue Calveley the days will include: times of prayer and worship, input to stimulate your reflection, but also plenty of time for quietness and personal reflection; ‘Drop they still dews of quietness, Till all our strivings cease: Take from our souls the strain and stress, And let our ordered lives confess The beauty of thy peace’. The garden includes a labyrinth, prayer hut, and places to rest and be. Suggested giving £10 which includes tea/coffee, please bring packed lunch; part of the proceeds will go towards the maintenance and development of the garden.

Centering Prayer - An Introductory Day

An Introductory day led by Contemplative Outreach U.K. Centering Prayer - Sometimes called ' Resting in God'. Contemplative prayer is firmly rooted in ancient Christian tradition. Thomas Keating founded Contemplative Outreach in 1984. It is now a world wide spiritual network of individuals and small faith communities. Please register for the day by email. A packed lunch will be required but coffee and tea will be provided. There will be no fee but donations will be welcome on the day. After the Introductory Day there will be 6 follow up sessions for those interested and the possibility of forming a group of those who wish to continue in this practice.
