Deanery Synod Lay Chair

The Lay Chair shares in the Bishop’s leadership in mission in the deanery.

The Lay Chair works collaboratively with the Area Dean and Deanery Synod Lay Members to support the mission of their deanery.

Their role is to:
Encourage and develop lay participation in the mission and work of the deanery.
Ensure that there is an effective link and good communication between deanery and diocesan synods.
Ensure that deanery synods are well attended with agendas on the mission needs and mission focus of the deanery and beyond.
To attend, participate in and report back from the Bishop’s Team meeting twice a year.

Deanery Mission and Pastoral Committee

The Lay Chair and Area Dean are on the Deanery Pastoral Committee along with  Diocesan representatives, two clergy elected from Deanery Synod and 2 lay members elected from Deanery Synod.
