Director of Music Holy Trinity Southport

Holy Trinity is very proud of its strong musical tradition and music plays an important part in the life of the church and its distinctive liturgy and style of worship.

The Choirs:
The Church Choir has traditionally comprised men and boy singers.  The decision has now been taken to introduce female voices into the main body of the choir.  Thus one of the first tasks of the new Director of Music will be to recruit and introduce girls (up to 16) into the junior choir and ladies voices (altos & tenors) into the adult section

In addition to the regular weekly services, the Church Choir visits a Cathedral during the summer vacation each year and sings the daily services throughout that week.  This is regarded as the highlight of the choir year; the venue in 2018 is to be Carlisle Cathedral.  Administrative arrangements for this are undertaken by the Choir Chaplain.

The Organs:
are both electronic by J & J Makin, part of Church Organ World.  The main instrument has four manuals and 74 speaking stops with a floating west end division.  There is also a moveable organ of two manuals with 30 stops.  Included in the key responsibilities, the DoM will deliver the music for weekly Sunday morning and Wednesday Choral Evensong services, they will recruit, lead, motivate and train the choir and will deliver the Cathedral Singing Week each summer.
