Archdeacon of Liverpool
Venerable Ricky Panter
Tel: 0151 705 2154
Ricky has served as Archdeacon of Liverpool since 2002. He is a member of Core Group aand Chair of the Priority Strategy Group overseeing the implementation of the Diocesan AMD Policy (Areas of Multiple Deprivation). Currently responsible for initiating Local Missional Leadership within our diocese.
Having served in urban parishes since ordination Ricky knows a bit about the challenges of city life – even though he grew up in rural Worcestershire. Now with his wife Jane’s violin teaching, and their involvement with the ‘Phil’ choir, Liverpool is very much home and they reckon on staying permanently.
Ricky originally trained as a teacher and worked at Schools in Chatham and Boscombe before training at Oak Hill Theological College. He still maintains an interest in education through close involvement with the Hawthorne’s (a ‘Free’ secondary school in Bootle). Meeting the challenge of enabling congregations to grow numerically and to engage with their communities, and not be held back by unsustainable buildings, is a key aspect of how he now sees his role.
