Clergy Vacancies

Interim Vicar of Great Crosby St Faith and Waterloo St Mary

We are two different churches in the sense of tradition, location and facility but with one desire to share God’s love with all people across our communities. St Faith’s stands in the liberal Anglo-Catholic tradition centred on weekday eucharists and daily offices and with an extensive musical ministry. St Mary’s is a small, enthusiastic and multi generational church family who are committed to Inclusive Church. We are looking for someone who will bring fresh thinking and real energy to take us forward in our mission. We need someone who will respect our differing worship styles and traditions, who will be confident in bringing initiative and vision to our churches, who will care for us and the local community and help us to bring about change.

The post is interim for 3 years and during that time the deanery would consider whether the post would become permanent.

Team Rector of Gateacre Team

This year, the Deanery has embarked on the journey of exploring pastoral reorganisation to become a single larger parish under the diocesan strategy Fit for Mission. It is expected that the postholder will be committed to this journey, and should be aware that this post may change to that of Team Vicar in a reconfigured larger parish in a 2-3 year timescale (all clergy currently in post will have the opportunity to explore becoming Team Rector of the new parish).

The lay leadership of the parish have flourished in vacancy and discovered a renewed sense of commitment to mission. They want a rector who will work with them in a collaborative way, developing their discipleship, and raising up new leaders, rejoicing in shared leadership.

Team Rector of St Luke in the City and Priest in Charge of Toxteth St Margaret

Serving a vibrant, growing and rapidly changing part of Liverpool city centre, this is a fabulous place to live and work.

This newly configured post holds together the three existing churches of the St Luke in the City team with a new partner church, St Margaret of Antioch, representing a new collaborative way of  working. The Team Parish of St Luke in the City was one of the earliest experiments in creating a  larger single parish, when five historic parishes came together 25 years ago. Now the Deanery has embarked on the journey of exploring pastoral reorganisation to become a single larger parish under  the diocesan strategy Fit for Mission. It is expected that the postholder will be committed to this journey, and should be aware that this post may change to that of Team Vicar in a reconfigured larger parish in a 2-3 year timescale (all clergy currently in post will have the opportunity to explore  becoming Team Rector of the new parish). It will be important for the postholder to be willing to work in partnership with people of goodwill of all faiths and none as the churches serve their communities.

Team Rector of Netherton and Sefton Team Ministry

We are looking for an enthusiastic Team Rector who will be sensitive to the contexts and needs of both parishes, in terms of mission, worship and demographic. To enable the clergy to focus on mission priorities and supporting worship, members of the PCC take responsibility for administrative matters such as finance, buildings and maintenance, the church diary and preparation of materials to support services.

We are offering you a supportive and welcoming church community who will respect your time off and the need to care for your own wellbeing and that of your family.  We commit to working with you, to being open to new ways of working and helping to provide the resources you need.

Team Vicar Designate, Christ Our Hope / Vicar of Christ Church Norris Green

We are looking for a talented priest to bring fresh vision to this mission-shaped and community-minded church in the open evangelical tradition; someone with a clear call to ministry in a UPA, who will love this place and the people here. We also want someone who will enjoy working in the new Christ Our Hope Fit for Mission larger single parish; someone who will be energised by working in this new, collaborative way with clergy and lay teams across a wider area.

The vision of Christ Church is Building God’s Kingdom in Norris Green and Introducing People to Jesus; seeking to do this by loving God, supporting each other, and serving our community. We are looking someone who really wants to be here, who will get wholeheartedly behind this vision, and who comes not only to lead, but to become a genuine part of this diverse, inclusive church family. This is an active church with well developed lay leadership; a vicar is needed to lead and inspire, but not to try to do everything themselves. Willingness to love and be embedded in the local community is important, as is a particular heart for discipling children and young people. It is important to the PCC that the new vicar is willing to work with them on using the newly commended Prayers of Love and Faith, and is supportive of women’s ministry, but they are not a campaigning church.

Choral Scholar - Liverpool Cathedral

Liverpool Cathedral are inviting applications for the positions of Tenor and Bass Choral Scholars to join our music team.  These roles are ideal for outstanding gap year, undergraduate or postgraduate students. However, all applications will be considered equally. As our Choral Scholarship programme is funded mainly by the Francis Neilson Trust (our fund for furthering the musical development of choristers and former choristers during their childhood and early adult years) we strongly encourage applications from applicants aged 18-25. However, in some circumstances, applications from older ages will be considered.

The scholarships are provided by the cathedral´s music trust, the Francis Neilson Trust, set up for the education of young singers in the cathedral. As such we will require scholars to assist with some mentoring of the choristers on a rotational basis.

The Choral Scholars will be fully involved in the busy life of the Music Department, singing alongside the Vicars Choral and choristers in the cathedral choir. The department is a friendly and welcoming one and a number of social events are part of the experience. The scholars will be welcome and encouraged to join the cathedral´s youth group (18-25) known as the Overcrofters.

Concert work is an important part of the choir’s work and they frequently join with the choir of the Metropolitan Cathedral for concerts and services and also the choirs of Manchester and Chester Cathedrals each year for a joint choral evensong. The cathedral choir supports a termly concert in the cathedral as part of the extensive choral outreach within the city and also gives a termly concert in a Diocesan church. New works are commissioned on a regular basis and there is plenty of challenging music to sing. The Choral Scholars are expected to attend all choral rehearsals and services as per the schedule.
